Thread: Lots Of Refreshes?

    Lots Of Refreshes?

I've been noticing lately that a lot of times new pages on the site come up blank, and I need to click Refresh once or twice to get the page to load. Iv've seen it happen when replying to a post, editing a reply, clicking a thumbnail pic, or just now, in creating this post. Has anyone else been seeing this behavior?

I'm using Firefox 1.07 on a Windows XP SP2 system, and haven't checked to see if I'm getting the same thing on IE.

Vaughn, I've been out of town most of the last two weeks, but the two times I have been on here, I've had the same thing almost every time I click on a new post or anything, and I'm using IE in Windows XP. I just thought it was something in my PC, but apparently not.

I just now made the above post and couldn't even get it to come up on the screen after I hit the submit button, even after hitting refresh several times. I had to hit back several times and then refresh twice to get back to your post. I have no idea what is wrong.

Vaughn, I'm glad you said something. After my last post in this section, I didn't want Aaron to think me more stupid than I am. Anyhow, I am seeing the same problem, using the same setup as you.

Ditto here. No rhyme nor reason, just seems like every so often I get a blank screen when clicking through to various posts here. Sometimes I've had to completly go out of SMC and come back in to get it to act right.

Me too...everyday. I'm using IE and XP. Thought it might be a settings problem on my system, but from the sounds of everyone else, it looks like it's a recent SMC bug. Thanks for bringing it up.

I had this issue a few nights this week on my work machine while traveling, but not at home this weekend. My ThinkPad is IE only and that is where I was having the problem. Firefox on my personal machine has not required the multiple refreshes even once...yet.

Vaughn, I've been seeing that behavior on SMC for a couple weeks, but I've also noticed it on one or two other sites -- for instance, engadget.com. Other sites work just like they always have. My guess has been that it isn't a problem with SMC, but rather something in the network.

I haven't seen any problems yet. I run Win 2000 Pro and IE.

Glad to see I'm in good company. I too have been seeing this off and on for the past couple of weeks, but last night it seemed to be more prevalent.

Of course the times I've checked into SMC today and tonight (Monday) I've not seen the problem. Ah, I guess of computers were easy, everyone would want one.
