Like most wood spinners I am always looking for rare, beautiful, new wood. Anyone have a source for AGARWOOD, an oriental evergreen which produces a dark, strong smelling resin when infected with a fungus. The sap is steamed for its oils some times. It sounds like a resinous heartwood like virgin longleaf stumps and pine knots in character. Reputed to be very hard and in high demand. Prices are reputed to be $3,000,000 to $100,000 per kilo. Used for perfumes and chinese medicines. Some of you old hats probably have a piece or two but it was a new species to me. The current world market is estimated 6-8 billion $ and rapidly growing. Google it up for giggles.
