    making a disc sander

    i want to make a disc sander from an electric motor i have. i need to find some way to attach an 8 inch wood disc to the motor shaft. any ideas??? thanks for any assistance.

    Shopsmith uses a faceplate that mounts on a 5/8" arbor. Tightens with an Allen screw

    What John says or you could find an aluminium vee belt pulley, drill some holes through it and screw/bolt on the timber disc. It works. Cheers

    woodgears.ca has some shop made machines featured as do the back issues of Shopnotes. youtube has a few vids as well.

    I think Woodcraft sells one of those.
