Turning a dust collector motor vertical

I have seen several post about people doing this some form several years back. My question is how are they holding up, has any one had any problems with the motor or impeller after some time doing this?

    Thanks!

I have what used to be a grizzly 1029. About 5 years ago I took it apart and mounted it to the wall with the motor vertical. No problems.

By vertical, do you mean that the shaft of the motor is vertical?

If so, that is the way my Oneida Dust Gorilla 3 HP is designed and is mounted.

Is this a bag collector or a cyclone? I've seen pictures on the ClearVue forum where people mounted an entire cyclone at an angle and said that worked OK. I can't imagine how a cyclone would work completely horizontal since I thought it needed gravity to drop the chips into the barrel.

I had a General International single stage D/C set up this way for 5 years until I upgraded to a cyclone a few weeks ago , no issues.

My Harbor Freight 2HP collector (modified, based on Jay Bates') is doing just fine vertically. Coming up on 2 years now.
