    Maybe that adjustable knob is for use with a shooting board?

    Pretty cool frog & depth adjuster. How does it compare, function-wise, to the Bailey type?

    Google up Autoset. These were desgined to compete with the bedrocks. You's set the iron where you wanted it, and IF you neede to take the iron out to sharpen, you could then just place it back in the plane, and go right back to work.

    Sometimes also called "VBM"

    Yes, mine is supposed to have the adjustable front knob. Pictures would be a big help. A picture or two of the bottom to show the recess would be great. Thanks!!!

    A couple numbers.....

    Bottom diameter 1.8"
    Neck diameter .98"
    Top diameter 1.8"
    Overall height 2.8"
    Radius of the bottom recess A 2.5" diameter spray can matches pretty good
    Brass nut .4 diameter x .75 tall
