    Zircon mt6 metal scanner

I have read a lot of posts about metal detectors for woodworking, however I haven't been able to find any about the Zircon mt6 scanner. Zircon advertises that it will find metal through concrete, walls, etc. I was told about it by a concrete inspector who claims that it really does what it says it will do.

I am wanting a metal detector for locating metal in used lumber. Does anyone use the Zircon mt6 scanner for this purpose? It seems to me that if it will go 6" deep through concrete, it probably should do a pretty nice job on lumber.

I would appreciate any comments or experience you have with this scanner. Thanks

This is what I use. I work with a lot of reclaimed cedar. The lumber is usually pretty weathered before we start working it, so visual inspection doesn't cut it. It catches metal well past the thickness of most boards, which means you'll need to scan it in the air or use a surface without any metal fasteners to avoid false positives.
