By comparison to where I put my push stick for my table saw I would consider that a little difficult to reach easily. I think I would rather it be hanging. Vibration is probably also going to let it move forward or back.
I use velcro to hold my pushstick onto the bandsaw. Easy to grab.

Put a rare earth magnet in the finger hole and hang it on the upper wheel cover. It would be at eye level and still available if you ate using the miter slot.
