    Red Mallee Burl

Here's another burl bowl that I turned about a year ago from a piece of red mallee I bought off ebay. On this one I managed to retain the spikes for a cool natural edge. Wipe-on poly makes a pretty fool-proof finish. I'm pretty new to turning, so C&C welcomed. IIRC it measures around 5" x 3".

Also made a set of pistol grips from a section I sliced off the bottom of the blank.

I wouldn't care to be on the wrong side of that 9mm, so I'll say I like your bowl. Really I do!!!!!! It's a real eye catcher for sure.

But would you say its "spiketacular"? I could see going that far

Seriously cool piece of work, the color and texture contrast is pretty fantastic and the form and finish looks pretty darn good from here as well.

it reminds me of some of the basket sponges I have seen while diving the keys.
