For many years, I have had a 14" Blanchard grinding wheel in my shop that is 4" tall with a 1 - 1/2" wall thickness. It was made by Simonds Abrasives and is a fairly coarse silicon carbide (green). When I talked with a machinist today, he said the type of wheel is not in use any longer on Blanchard's which are much larger and use segmented stones. Does anyone have some ideas how to use the stone to sharpen edges or flatten surfaces? He confirmed that it would cut carbide. It has a plate on one side with a 1 - 1/4" diameter center hole and 4 other 9/16" holes symmetrically spaced at 4" from the center.

Thanks
David
