    First phase of cabinets competed

I have just finished all the lower cabinets for my new kitchen. The carcases are made of 3/4 birch with a poly coat. The doors and face frames are 3/4 mdf. I cut the mdf doors out of the face frame fronts. The drawers are made of 3/4 maple. I used hidden hinges for the doors. Now I have to get started on the uppers.

    Hi Jason,

Very nice looking cabinets! How did you finish the MDF? Gloss paint, or did you use some kind of clear coating? It looks great.

nice job on the insets, jason! the consistent gap around the door is a mark of true craftsmanship. LOVE the idea of just routing a profile on MDF and painting it afterwards - i'll keep that in mind after finishing my kitchen cabinets and starting on some quickie shop cabinets. BTW, did you use a rectangular template to guide the cuts!

Hey Tom, The finish I used on these cabinets was a product called "cabinet coat". It is a acrylic paint for trim and cabinets. I borrowed my neighbors spray gun and sprayed them. The paint dried quickly and I was able to get three coats on in one day.
