    Rockwell 20" bandsaw 28-3x5 questions

I have the possibility to purchase a Rockwell 28-3x5 bandsaw for a good price. The saw is about a 3 hour drive from me and I don't want to make the drive if the saw is not going to be a good fit for me. Does anyone have this saw or the 28-345 that they can answer a few questions?

Do you like the saw and is it a good choice for woodworking? My understanding is that the 3x5 and the 345 were intended for metal cutting but with the Reeves drive variable speed, they can be used for wood as well.

Approximately how heavy is the saw and how much of it can be removed so that I can get this saw into my basement shop (I plan to hire movers)?

What are the dimensions of the saw?

    Thanks in advance,
    David

As for moving the band saw, It would be easier if you remove the motor, wheels and table.

Thanks Gus. I'll have to keep shopping since that won't fit down my stairs.

    Is it 3-phase?

I believe that it is single phase. If it is 3-phase, it could be run with a VFD.
