    Reconstituted Stone for Segmentation

    Hi Folks,

I've been slipping down the segmentation slope this year. I'm inspired by Ray Allen's work and would like to include the reconstituted turquoise or other stone types into my next bowl. What's a good source of block material? Thanks!

I have used pen blanks and cut them into small pieces for inclusion in the segments. Craft Supplies and all the other suppliers of pen blanks have a wide variety.

I have also used cut up pen blanks with good results. This one is CurlyMaple, Jotoba and 2 Acrylic pen blanks. The cool thing I found is that the acrylic is translucent (it lets light through). It looks really cool with one of those small electric tea lights in it at night. acrylic1.jpg

    Mike & Kurt,

Thanks, this was a Doh! moment - I'd never considered pen blanks. Kurt, you bowl looks great.

Look into inlace, it's a simulate but doesn't damage your tool edge.
