    I'm so happy

Just made a purchase off CL for a 35 ton, 12.5 HP log splitter. $1200
Brought it home and just finished a little over a cord for the next heating season! Whoop.
I have been splitting by using a maul / wedge / sledge for the past (many) years.
I think turning 60 entitles me to some new / used toys.

My wife wanted to get one because she didn't want me to have a heart attack or hurt myself splitting wood. I'm only a few years older.

I kind of like swinging an axe, maul or sledge.

Jim, what can I say? You're a better man than me! I am just to the point where the 20" - 26" ash doesn't have the same appeal it did. Although here in South Dakota when it's -20F it still splits fairly easy---until you get to branch wyes.

    You're right.

I bought one for my over 70 Dad, last Summer.
He goes through 7-10 cords per year, fueling his hydronic boiler.

I still split by hand, but at only .75 - 3 cords per year - I can still manage.

I'm proud for your new purchase. I bought a new 22T Huskee last Oct, splitting wood now will put a smile on your face. The wife will have to make you come in the house for lunch because you don't want to stop splitting! I'm 60 as well.

Ahhh be careful where you put your hands while working.. I have a friend who now has a thumb he could flip pancakes with
Epilog 24TT(somewhere between 35-45 watts), CorelX4, Photograv(the old one, it works!), HotStamping, Pantograph, Vulcanizer, PolymerPlatemaker, Sandblasting Cabinet, and a 30 year collection of Assorted 'Junque'

Every time you make a typo, the errorists win

I Have to think outside the box.. I don't fit in it anymore

I bought one a couple years back 27T, 7hp +/-, my joints - elbows mainly - couldn't handle the split maul anymore. What a pain reducer.

Somedays, when I get in a grove, I'm almost sad to see that the pile (to be split) is gone. And there is nothing like it
for some of the twisted/knarly pieces which always see to show up.
