    Wood ID

I found these two pieces on the curb but have no idea what they might be. Any ideas? The trees I think they came from were very tall and the wood is very heavy even for being wet. I am in North Carolina.

The Bradford Pears are blooming here and these trees were not. These trees were a lot taller than the Bradford Pears around here. My dad came by and said they were either Oak or Maple. I'm pretty sure they are not Oak.

Maple. I live in N.C. I turned a lot of maple over the years.
