    Rockhard Varnish over Verathane

Just finishing a dinning room table for a cust. I have 4 coats of semi-gloss oil base 'Varathane' on now. Should I add Rockhard Table Top Varnish by hand over this? Was told by one of the w/w suppliers this would give more protection. TIA for the help.

Are they going to set off bombs on that table?

I don't think I'd add anything over the Varithane, but you certainly can if you want to. You'll probably need to sand lightly before top coating, however. Be sure to verify that anything you use over the existing finish is compatible, etc...

    Yes - I did...

You sure can. I did the exact same thing. I made a couple of small maple tables. For some reason I used the oil based varathane and didn't like it. I asked Jeff Jewitt if it would be okay to put Behlens Rock Hard Table Top varnish over it, he said yes. I did lightly sand first though.

Came out nice. I wiped it on (it was thinned). Behlens is nice stuff.
