Question about RPCs

I bought a 15 hp control panel from phase craft which works great, but the idler motor I had on hand for it has some issues. Since the panel was built for a 15 hp idler could I still use a 10hp idler motor? Thought perhaps I could go down. I need three phase power for a 7.5hp planer. The reason I ask I found a 10 hp for free. Thanks in advance for any help.
