Dye type.

Looking for advice on dye and type to color Bamboo knitting needles for a project I am working on.
The needles have an unknown clear finish on them. I would like to spray a clear finish over the the dye.
Any info and suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Since these needles already have a clear finish, dye is out of the question unless you strip any finish off. And, bamboo, even when unfinished is sometime difficult for dye to penetrate evenly. But since you are going to spray the needles I suggest you spray them with tinted finish -- a toner. You can tint your finish coat in a variety of ways depending on what finish you plan on using. We could be more specific if you gave us more info in the finish you plan to spray. If you aren't sure, then let us know how these needles would be used.
