    QSWO Coffee Table

    Hi All,
After doing some window sills and trim I finally was able to do my very first project. So many things learned while working on it, I can't wait to start the end table (and then a Morris Chair!). I cut all the small end mortises by hand (taught myself - love Youtube!) but used a friends bench top mortiser for all the large ones. While I bought a pair of 1950's Powermatic planer and jointer, I did finish the top and bottom shelf with a new Levitas BU jack plane with a 50 degree iron. If I had it to do again, I'd have cut the sapwood off the boards on the top, but I didn't realize it was there when I started. Now they just add contrast and the LOML likes it. 2013-11-03 coffee table.jpg2013-11-03 table top.jpg

I'm with your wife; I like the character and color variation. It looks curly. I bet that is one heavy dude! Well done, amigo.
