    Flame Polisher FP-103A Alcohol

Hi all, I purchased a flame polisher back with one of the group buys and pulled it out of storage for a project. When we try to turn it on, we are getting no pressure and the meter is not rising above 1 or 2. We thought that the water was dirty so we emptied it and may have emptied the alcohol as well. We found a video online of the filling of the solutions and see that there is distilled water and some form of alcohol but not sure what kind of alcohol. Or there could be another solutions, which we are not aware of. Anyone have anything similar happen? Thanks

Did you also replace the electrolyte (sodium hydroxide)? Without that, you get no current flow...

Where do you put that and do you have any instructions for the machine?

It goes in with the water. Once in, you only need to keep the water topped off as the electrolyte is not used up.

Plenty of manuals online, but here's a decent one in English:

That would explain the nasty smelling "water". It looks like 350 grams of NaOH to 1 liter of water. Does that sound about right. Dan Thank you for your help.

I don't know what machine you have, but most of them would be similar in size to the single cell listed in the instructions posted... so 350 grams would be correct. It's not an exact value, so anything in the area will be good enough.
