    Was this a good deal??

so i Went to my local lumber yard looking for about 20bf of hard maple for a mantel project. i left with 160bf of 4/4 Select grade 6' hard maple @ $2.00bf i had to buy it all to get it for that price, after i was done unloading it im wondering if its really a good deal?

the middle stack boards are 6-8" wide, the small stack are 6" & under, the other is 8" or more with the widest being 13"

If it's KD then you got a very good deal. If you're really lucky, you'll find a few of those boards have some curly or bird's eye grain in them.

That is an amazing deal. I can't even get $2/BF when I buy 1000' at a time.

Was not a good deal... WAS A GREAT DEAL! About 25% to 40 % of what you would pay for the best deal in Central CA

It depends. If you have a use for 160 bdft of maple, then it is a great deal. If not, you just have a $300 pile of clutter in your shop.

Uh... Yeah!!! That's only $0.32 more than I pay for Poplar!!! I wish I even had the room to store that much lumber.

    Good find!

    ...and of course...

    You suck!!!

That is a great deal- Where I buy, hard maple is $4.80 for 4/4 FAS rough under 9" wide with a 10% discount over 100 bd ft!

Exactly. Maybe a maple tool chest.

YOU got took. In the spirit of goodwill, I'll let you can drop it off at my shop and I'll give you your money back, plus a little for gas
What does it mean when you've accumulated enough tools that human life expectancy precludes you from ever getting truly good with all of them?

I guess it all depends on location. Here in Wisconsin my source charges $2.25 BF any quantity.
