    shadow box, Air Force

    This is a shadow box I made for my brother in-law. Made from rock maple. Fun but challenging project.

    Looks good! We do quite a bit of shadow boxes here so I'll pass on one tip that works well.
    For the flag portion instead of folding the flag and trying to get it to fit nicely, we cut the shape
    of the space it goes in out of foamcore. That way you can wrap the flag around the piece and center
    up the stars nicely. This doesn't damage the flag as we "stuff" it in back of the foamcore.
    The only time we don't do this is for a memoerial flag as many like to leave it folded from the service.

    Thanks for the tip! I just have a rule of our flag being properly folded if it is not flying, just a personal choice.
