    Lazarus Infill Plane new design

I moved my iron 500 miles back to Chicago. Nightmare. The 12 hour drive ended up taking 3 weeks. Boy, was I happy to settle in and get something built. This smoother sports a 1 7/8'' A2. The woods are wenge and Madagascar mahogany. Nice, hefty feel on this one. Lazarus Handplane Co. Infill Smoother by Lazarus 13, on Flickr

So,how are you supposed to adjust the iron? It looks like the handle is in the way. How long will it take for the dovetail joint at the bottom of the handle to work loose,or crack through the fairly thin wood on each side of it? I'll go for a solid handle every time.

Those squared off corners on the handle and the bun need to be made more round if blisters are to be avoided after a planing session.

I'm not being mean, just factual observations.

That is a really bold, striking design. I think it looks great. How does it work?
