    Can I put a 8" Dado set on a 8.5" Dewalt RAS?

All I want a RAS for is to cut dados. There is a really cheap one, rather rusty, available; but it can be locked at 90* and goes up and down, then who cares. But will the dado set fit?

Not sure I totally understand, but yes, an 8” dado can go on an “8.5” RAS - likely really a 9”. Might be underpowered.

they have negative hook dadoes, would work better not pull and cut cleaner

Is the arbor long enough and does the spindle seem tight? How wide and deep do you intend to go? A 5/8" arbor has limits. Dave

Another thing to check is clearance of the blade guard, may not be able to get a full 3/4" width with an 8" dado stack. If not, would it work with a 6" stack? Or is there a dado guard available.

Are we talking an old MBF? I wouldn't sling an 8" on there, but it should spin up a 6" dado stack. The arbor and the power are going to have their limits.
