Ok, I posted this tongue in cheek because I have never seen this before, and cant think of why anyone would want to do this. (Im trying to imagine planing with a 15# hunk of metal hanging off to one side of my plane). They made this tool for a reason no doubt.

This was sold as a kit for hanging doors. what I didn't see was the templates for transfering and routering hinges from door to frame. They were actualy handy for transfering existing hinges to a replacement door. The planing attachment would be used for resizing and yes it's awkward to use but at the time these where made in the mid sixty's they would made quick work of sizing a door.
