    Dado set

The Freud dado set from Amazon arrived yesterday.took a little time to try it out.Man what a difference. My old one was the Craftsman Excaliber.Nothing more than a wobble blade set up.When I bought it abot 6 yrs.ago I thought its good enough, price was $89.Should have spent the extra money back then and bought a good one.The Freud takes a little time to set up but the results are great.Moral of story, buy the best.

A good way to set up a stacked dado set is to use a caliper to measure the width of the cut before you tighten it down. An accurate caliper works the first time, almost every time. You can also use a caliper to determine the amount of adjustment needed, if you are doing test cuts. Then you can choose the right shim and not have to guess.
