    Preservative on Cedar?

I am replacing the seat and back slats on a glide that sits in a garden area. It is in a very shady area and we are in the Great Pacific Northwest. The original slats, maybe mahogany, need replaced after 12-15 years. I'm using 5/4 cedar decking, the price is right and it makes the shop smell good. The pix is of a similar style glider just for description, it is not the one in the back yard.

My friendly wood store guy suggested the cedar would last equally as long with no treatment. I like that idea, but wondered what you folks thought.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Here's a 20-page article about finishing cedar, by a cedar trade association --- http://www.wrcla.org/pdf/WRCLA_Guide_to_Finishing.pdf

Thanks Jamie, I'm leaving it natural.
