    Color putty question

I just installed some closet dividers and shelf in my master closet. They are birch ply stained with minwax ebony finished with 7-8 coats of wipe on satin poly. I filled the nail holes with ebony color putty. Question is should I put a coat of poly over the nail holes? If so how long to let the putty dry and should I wipe on a coat all over or just over the putty?

    Thanks

Really depends on the putty you used some never harden and the poly will not stick very well. others harden and a wipe-on coat or two would help hide them.

You should dab a bit on one or two nail holes to see what happens; it may be just fine. Test somewhere out of sight.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
