    English longbow kit

This forum seems to have a wide knowledge base so I thought I might throw this question out there.
Has any one made an English Longbow? Got an idea of where I pick up a kit of one? It has been a while since I did any hunting to amount to much and the idea of bow hunting has me intrigued, rather than jump in and buy an expensive hunting bow, I had an idea it might be fun to practice with a long bow and see if I liked it. We are going to be moving to a (even more) rural area waaaaaay up Nawth to the cold frozen wastelands of east Tn. and I understand the hunting is good around there
    Thanks for your time
    Jeff

I was curious and looked around online. Found no kits but this site had books, DVD's and supplies, and generally seemed loaded with information. http://www.3riversarchery.com/making..._baseitem.html
Being well-read is not the same as knowing what you are doing.

Three Rivers will have staves which one can use to make a longbow.

One can just use a board --- red oak is the classic beginner material, but hickory or some other true bow wood is better of course. List of species here:

Site w/ instructions for an English Longbow:

I hang out on Archerytalk.com which has a build forum:

Here's a longbow which I did (but mostly I do flatbows now):

+1 on three rivers. helpful folks there too--give them a call. you're probably too far for a visit, but they are open to the public on saturdays.
