    Curly Tasmanian Eucalypt

A piece of fairly good curly Eucalypt, originally I was going to carve spirals on it. But thought better of it as the curl is effective enough on its own.

7x3" with a wall of around 1/8th" finished with WOP two coats and buffed with a neutral wax.

Wow that wood sure is curly. Really nice form and finish.

Great curl and a neat form. The collar is especially nice.

Some wood needs embellishment. This piece certainly does not. Carving might only take away from the natural ripple in this piece. The shape is refreshing. It seems like too many closed forms are similar in shape and few step away from the norm. It's refreshing to see a wide opening and a form that is twice the width as the height.

Faust, I figured by having a larger opening one could have a look at more of the curl and this would add to it.

That is a nice piece. I like the proportions a lot too. It just begs to be picked up and handled.
