    Willaim Penn Oak tree

We have 2 William Penn Oak trees on the property that I live on.
These are white oaks that have been certified as being in existence when William Penn founded Pennsylvania.
One of them came crashing down last week smashing up our fence, but otherwise doing no real damage.

I have to remove it soon and I want to preserve as much wood as possible for woodworkers to use.
My question is..."how would YOU go about salvaging this tree?"

PS. I don't seem to be able to download pics.
