    A Gloat-SWAT winning raffle Ticket

At the urging of Alan Trout I am posting a photo my grand prize winning for having the correct raffle ticket at the recent
SWAT symposium held in Waco last weekend. It is a Vicmarc VL-300 shortbed, 24" swing, variable speed from a 3hp motor,
all the bells & whistles. My thanks to SWAT, Scott Hackler & Alan Trout for the help in disassembly & loading into the back
of our minivan. Yes, it did fit nicely and we made it home safely....all 635 miles!! It now sits in my shop along with
my Stubby. Also, I turned & submitted a "Beads of Courage" bowl and I finished in the top ten and received as a prize a
Doug Thompson Detail Gouge with laser engraving that said "B. O. C., SWAT-2012 on the handle. Very nice, thank you

Congratulations Jim, that's a beauty. I wouldn't know which lathe to use if I were you.
When you approach the lathe you have "the plan", after your first catch you have "the intent".- P. Harbeck

I would not be able to choose which one to turn on. Both are top notch lathes. Congratulations on winning both the lathe and gouge.

Thanks Guys, it is somewhat of a problem deciding which to use but I'll work it out. Now, when I have visitors they have a choice!!
Lots of Basket turning lies ahead. I'm a happy trooper! Thanks again.

Thanks guys, very thankful and VERY lucky too. My thinking now is pretty much the two lathes are equal with minor
differences. The Stubby will rotate about 10 rpm's, nice for applying WOP on the lathe, Vic rpm's is abt 40, minor difference.
Both are well built machines and either will do more than I am capable of so......we'll see? Thanks to all.

I think Scott and Yolanda were almost as excited as if they had won it! Surely the right table to be sitting at! Very nice prize indeed. Two Aussie lathes in one workshop, definitely a (very) deep south bias there! Congratulations

Glad to see it Jim. Have you taken it for a test drive yet? I love that pretty blue color. Congratulations and I am really glad you won it. It could not happened to a nicer person.
