A few pens on Father's Day

Spent some time in my shop today with my FIL. He wanted to see a pen being made, so what better way to spend some time than making one for him (and one for my MIL, too)?

First is my MIL's. Ambrosia Maple Comfort Pen in 24K gold.

Next is my FIL's. Spalted Maple and Ebony Comfort Pen in black (but we swapped out the black middle ring/spacer for a Gold one).

Very nice looking pens. Great designs in them both.

    Thanks, Donny!

Jim, yeah, that was from a cut off of my really good stuff. I made some cross grain, some on a diagonal, and some with the grain. My MIL picked this one out...

Great looking pens Mike! Ditto on the cool orientation of the ambrosia maple.

Great looking pens, Mike. The problem is that the background is very distracting. I think you need to send that dirty ol' burl cap to me and get yourself a nice clean background for these pens...

Hey, it worked! I figured if I put the pens ON something that looked like crap, the pens would be less likely to be called as such. Success!
