Thread: Very Thin Cherry Bowl

    Very Thin Cherry Bowl

Here are a couple of pictures of a cherry bowl 3" tall and 9" in diameter that I was able to turn to 3/32" in thickness using a steady rest that Jim Ketron built for me. In the photos there is a dime to illustrate how thin this bowl is.

It was somewhat of a pain to finish as the finish kept bleeding through the thin end grain. You can hold it up to the sun and see shadows through it.

I don't know why I turned it so thin, just had a good time turning it.

P.S. If you are interested in plans for any project that I post, just put some money in an envelope and mail it to me and I will keep it.

Hey Big Mike looking good. I know why you made the sides so thin.
    Because you can. Looks great.

Nice bowl Mike. I like the way the grain runs through the center.
