    The Birth of a tool

I ran across these videos on another forum that I frequent. It is of two craftsmen in Latvia creating a carpenters axe and a timber framing slick.

Their craftsmanship is superb; a great combination of old world techniques (the blacksmithing) and new world equipment (the woodworking).

The axe is made with a tool steel insert for the cutting edge. There are video's of it slicing through paper like butter.

    Definitely worth the watch.

Thanks for those! It's a pleasure to find someone making a living in the modern day with traditional craft.

Cool! I like the way the socket is formed in the chisel.

Mike, they are just getting started, and their products are priced fairly competitively. In addition to the different Axe's and timber framing slicks, I understand that they make custom chisels as well.

If you send them an e-mail, they will provide pricing and a product breakdown.

So far, this is what John & Jacob have to offer. I sent them an email, and within 2 minutes, got a reply. They sent me these two screen captures of their under construction website. Get out the drool cups.
