Latest tool find - The Big Ripper

The ad to which I responded was for planes. Those were a disappointment. Then I spied this. I ain't sayin' what I paid, but there was change from a ten.A Disston 9, apparently mid-to-late 1860s. Straight as an arrow, pretty darn shiny, and sharp as the proverbial tack.No9 028.jpgNo9 002.jpgNo9 006.jpg

+2, that's a gorgeous saw and one of my favorite Disston models -- love the Tote! That plate looks like it just came out of the factory, couldn't have been used much and I'd be surprised if it's been sharpened more than a couple times.

Looks like it might be a 28" ripper?

You are lucky dog!!! Please keep other hand tool gloats coming so us miserable souls living in hand tool deserts can at least live vicariously through you!

    Thanks All.
Before I found this forum, I would've never guessed that I'd enjoy hearing the words "you suck."
All kidding aside, I dislike the word "gloat" and the idea of bragging. And yeah, I know it's all in fun, but the real reason I post these is to say: "keep plugging. You have to slog through a lot of crap, and what seems like wasted time (and gas), before you find the gems."
But then, suddenly - it's all worth it.
And trust me when I say - old tools are everywhere.

That is a great find Joe.

What part of the country was that in?
