    Powermatic Model 34?

I found one for sale ($500) but know nothing about a model 34. This one is 3ph. I don't want to get a phase converter.

How difficult/ expensive is getting & installing a 1ph motor in this lathe?

What can you tell me about a Model 34 Powermatic?

    Thanks, Joe

I think the one you are reffering to is a PM45. I saw the ad. I think he is on the high side at $500. Rather than replacing the motor (which is actually not that hard if you chose to go that route), I would get a VFD for it. The TECO FM50 for a 1 hp motor is about $100-125. That way, you'd have electronic speed control as well as manual (with the arm). Also, if you plan to do bowls, you'll apprectiate being able to adjust the speed lower than the slowest speed that that lathe has to offer.
    I drink, therefore I am.
