fret board finish?

The kids got a couple ukelele kits for Christmas from Grizzly. It kinda seems like you don't finish the fret board.

This seems wrong to me. can any one give me some advice.

you can wax and buff it , or get some 'finger board oil' ....or pledge ..

I've never built a ukelele, but I use StewMac's fingerboard oil on my guitars. You wipe it on, let it sit for a minute, and wipe it off. The next day, rub it with some steel wool. It's mostly just boiled linseed oil as far as I can tell, but it really does a great job of keeping the fingerboard from getting dirty while not feeling unnatural.

I've read that pledge is actually bad for fingerboards. I've used Danish Oil, BLO, nothing, Kyser Dr. Stringfellow Lem-Oil fretboard conditioner... I've read some people melt beeswax on it, some use Tru Oil...

Tru Oil on maple. Bore oil on rosewood, etc.

I have some teak oil that seems to do a nice job on rosewood finger boards on my ukes. readily available at the borg, and does not build up.
