    Sycamore Vase

Some more Sycamore from my neighbor's tree. I wanted to try some deeper hollowing. This is 9-1/4" tall and 3-3/4" diameter, turned end grain, hollowed 8-1/2" deep. The opening is @ 1-1/8" and the walls are 1/8". Although there's not a lot of spalting there is some cool grain. I guess I should have put it on a darker base for the pictures. All comments welcome.

You're right - that is some pretty wood! With the sides of the vase being so straight, almost seems like the top should be flat or at a slight angle to keep that style continuous. Looks good to me though!!

Pretty wood Rob. With those straight sides it has a very sleek and modern look to it.

Well done, Rob!! Achieving a consistently straight taper like that is not easy. I kind of agree with Steve on the top being a straight angle vs. rounded, but that doesn't take away from what you have done here. Nice stuff!
