    Banding to Purfling?

I bought some fiber/pear wood herringbone banding because I thought they had just named it wrong. I wanted purfling. So now I have this herringbone banding and I don't know what to do with it. I don't think I want it as banding, and don't think I've ever seen an instrument with herringbone banding.

Can I turn the banding into purfling? It was only a few bucks, and I figure that I can't, and will probably just have to do something else with it. I'm just curious.
    It's sufficiently stout..

Some old Martin guitars had herringbone banding. They are very valuable. Can you put it down the center of a guitar back? It has been used for that.

    George,

That's what I was thinking about doing. I know I'll find some use for it, maybe even in a piece of furniture or something. I just really wanted herringbone purfling.
