Sixteen posts and nobody has told you... You suck. Big, burl, suck!
I'm anxious to see what that stuff looks like turned and finished. It does look like ambrosia staining, but I've never heard of ambrosia oak! Congrats on discovering a new wood for turners to covet!
There has to be some nice bowls and even some pens in there. Nice Gloat
Well, here is the 1st roughout. It appears to me those are bark inclusions.....lots of super glue and an oil wipe...now for a quick sand and then AS and see ya in a year!
Man, that is some sweet looking wood. I don't generally like turning oak, but I think I could fall in love with that stuff. I'm going to set my alarm for one year so I'll remember to look for the finished piece.
That is a SWWEEEEEEETTTT burl. Looking forward to seeing the bowl finished.
Its supposed to be rainy tomorrow...any of you local fellers want some of this ya better get here. I will start making it smaller so I can use it very very very soon!
Nice looking burl and bowl Ken! Is that the big one you had dumped in your front yard last fall? If I remember correctly, you were going to put christmas lights on it. Must have been kind of a bummer to have to take them off yesterday just to cut it up.
Thats what nailed my chain!!!
Ken
Thats a super find and man it is beautiful. Can't wait to see more of it turner. If you ever get to the area between Cleveland and Akron Oh you can use my Vega 2600.
I appreciate it, I will be shooting in Ohio 3 or 4 times yet this season.
How about an update. 9 x 3 x 1/4 Sure took alot of epoxy and sanding haha
That wasn't even close to waiting a year! Looks real nice. If you were closer I would be in the market for some of that wood.
