    Horizontal Tambour?

I have an assignment from SWMBO. We have a tiny powder room that my wife wants to redecorate. She wants a curved front sink/counter on a vanity that will fit tightly against the side wall where the hinged bathroom door opens to within 1/2" of the sink counter. I was thinking about horizontal tambour doors to give more maneuver room (the room is so small that you cannot open the right hinged vanity door with the bathroom door open because they hit each other). Has anyone made or used horizontally working tambours? Do they work smoothly or is there too much friction from the weight to let them work smoothly. Any suggestions based upon experience to make them work better?

    Thanks,
    Mark Blumer (East Lansing, MI)

Companies sell tambour kits for appliance garages. You can get tracks, pre-made tambours, and spring-loaded rollers which take up the weight of the door. For instance, look on rockler.com
