    "old money"

    i started this piece on january 15th. i have diligently recorded the process. i hope you enjoy watching this come together. i'll post a few photos over time. it starts with me gluing three pieces of white pine to make one solid block........

    What a tease this is! It's like Biggest Loser when they show the scale ticking and make you wait until the next week to find out how much weight someone lost.

    However, the payoff in this is FAR better than anything on NBC.

    It's amazing that such pedestrian looking wood becomes what we've seen as the finished product. I could've found that wood in the scrap bin of my dad's shop when I was a kid, but it was destined for a much less spectacular ending.

    i get a little frenzied in the beginning. i can see it in my head and want to make it appear in real life. my tools are so sharp i dont know i nicked myself till i notice the blood on the sculpture.....day three.

    ok....this is near the end of the first week. starting to under cut. this is significant because there is no going back. no way to lower the flap on top for instance. also changed the configuration in the box and starting to play around with the corrugation.
