    scraper blades

    hey guys
was making a scraper for my #12 stanley i cut a square out of an old saw blade its about 1/8" thick i squared it up and put a burr on it works ok. my ques is is the blade to thick for a scraper the shavings jam up in the throat should it be thinner metal. i am just learning and messing around but i don't want to waste to much time on this if its a useless adventure.
    thanks for any advice tim

Probably only you can tell if the throat is jamming. I made a blade 1/16" thick out of a big lumber mill bandsaw blade for my old Stanley. It isn't too thick to spring with the thumb screw when I want to spring a curve into the blade's cutting edge. You must have used a circular saw blade to get 1 that thick.
