Very nice but much more than what I would call a "box".

I almost skipped over this thread when I read "pine box". A bit of an understatement, don't you think? I'm glad I didn't though. Looks beautiful. I love the finish. Did you color wash to get that effect? I'm thinking of doing a painted piece soon, and would like to know how you did that?

Your title doesn't do justice to your work. I almost skipped looking and I'm glad I didn't it is a nice pantry cabinet or pie safe. Well done. Did you carve the medallions?

I would love to know how you did the finish. The more I mangle projects the more I realise that finishing is the most important part and I love yours. I just have no idea on how to do it.

+1 That cabinet is really really cool - very nice work.

Definite kudos. I love the finish, even though I'm usually not a fan of faux aged finishes and the like. The carving is sweet. When it said "pine box" I was expecting something along the lines of the pine box I built for housing my Incra stuff. Nice as my pine box is, (simplicity being it's virtue), yours is orders of magnitude beyond a simple "pine box".

That's one of the nicest 'pine boxes' I've seen! Nice attention to detail.

    Very pretty.
Is that finish milk paint over milkpaint? What did you topcoat with?
