    Adhesive for green felt

I am replacing the green felt in a couple of wood tool chests. What type adhesive does the best job with least mess? I have considered, hide glue, Elmer's white, contact cement, contact water based. Any experienced feedback appreciated.

I've had good luck with aerosol adhesive, sprayed on both surfaces and allowed to dry. Just make sure you put it down right the first time.

I used Aleene's tacky spray adhesive from the local Wal-Mart (craft section), followed directions on the can and worked fine for applying felt to MDF. FWIW, I just sprayed the MDF -- not the felt.

I like to use the kind with the pressure sensitive adhesive on. Peel the backer off and stick it down. No mess. I've always had the problem of the glue bleeding thru the fabric.

    FWIW: for what it's worth

I've used the 3M Super 77 spray contact adhesive (available at HD, etc), with good results.

Good advice. Think of sprayed adhesive as contact cement--grabs for good at initial contact of the parts. Just keep this in mind as you assemble.
