    In the shop today.

I would like to share with you one of the projects that I made today. This is a goblet I made and I was very nervous most of the time hoping I would not blow this one up as it was progressing so well. It is Canary Wood which is very soft and has a texture similar to Walnut. This piece is 6-1/4” tall by about 2” wide. Since Canary is considered a Tulip Wood I decided to shape the goblet like a tulip. I also made interlocking captive rings on this one which is a first for me.

This picture show the goblet on its side for a better view of the shape and the rings.

The goblet itself was hollowed to about 1/16” using many delicate passes with a side scraper.

Thanks for taking the time to look and I hope you like it.

VERY nice. I love that wood. I have two questions.
One, what finish did you use?
Two. How the Heck did you get the rings like that? I saw Dave Hout on DIYNet do a single ring, never saw the double ring. Would make a nice wedding cup, I think.

Kenneth, that is absolutely B-A-Youtiful! Very delicate look to it and I can certainly understand your aprehension. One more and you do have a wonderful wedding or anniversary gift for someone very special! Great job.

    Hi Kenneth,

Very nice! The color in the wood is wonderful.

Pat, Bill Grumbine gave very good directions on how he makes these interlocking rings a while back.
