    Ordination Service

    Hi Everyone.

We are having an ordination service next month and I have been asked to take the "round tuit" coins I have done (wooden disc from Michael's) and do some to commemorative coin. The disc are approx 1.5".

Anybody have any ideas on how to make this more than just text on a round disc?

    Thanks,

Kevin, isn't there a symbol/logo you could use ? Maybe you could make it in 3D or stamp mode so it look like a coin or a medal, or use Tim's powder coat method described in another thread, maybe you can also make little boxes to place them in.

    Andrea -

I've been looking for clipart, but haven't had any luck... I was thinking about a 3D version, but coming up with a 2D version seems impossible. Hopefully someone will have done something along these lines in the past.

    Thanks

I do wood coins al the time, I tend to do them from sheet stock that way
I can cut them to any size.

I have done them with the file inverted to give it a raised effect, the
problem there is if the wood is not a VERY hard wood they tend to warp.

You can import an image or clip art into the file just as you would with
any other. One way to deal with text is to make a smaller circle inside
the perimeter an "fit text to path" that way it follows the curve.

I do a bit of poker chips also, Conde sells a dye sub chip for about $.50
they come out pretty nice as they can be done in color.

Coin type products are a nice seller for me.

You could raster a disc deep enough to hold a new 2010 quarter (dime, nickel) and engrave text around that.

You might also see if the parish has a coin of their own that you could use. Perhaps a metal 'host' wafer or patron saint medalion?

No, they are a Fiberglas resin, They are nice though.

I do a cheaper version also, I buy blank chips from a chip company,
print on vinyle, the cut with a standard hole punch then fit to the inset
    chips are about $.07ea
