The marble used was a standard marble tile with lots of white marble in it. The wood was alder wood. Both were 1000 dpi and lens size was 0.001 spot size.

Andrew the last picture has too much power which is causing the picture to lose it's definition. I would be interested to know what the power to speed ratio is on your attempts. For granite using a 45 watt machine, my speed is always 100% but the power can very from 25 to 33.
Photograv will only process your picture. In version 3 I have found their power to speed settings way off and I still havent been convinced otherwise on certain materials. In version 2.11, granite for a 30watt Universal machine should be around 60 power to 100 speed at 250dpi and 45 power to 100 speed at 333 dpi.
Your universal one touch has been designed specifically for your machine, not having been given a file that has been processed with it, knowing what the differences are is difficult to comprehend. So, post your settings for all of us to view.

Hi frank, I have a xenetech laser, the power and speed where the same for both photos as per specs from richwoodline. The power was 40% and the speed was around 35 ips. For both tests. It seems that all the photograv pics come out the same, loss of detail no matter what the power and speeds are. I have tried many settings and they always look the same with photograv 3. But with 1 touch there ok. So my ? Is why can't I not get a more realistic lasered photo with photograv 3? I even tried 300 dpi 500 and 1000 nothing works as good as the 1 touch. But I have seen on here some great results with photograv 3, so what gives?

well when i look at both photos after running them with the photo programs, i one bit b/w, it is clear that the are less dots in the pg3 one for sure. which means less details?

That last photo looks to me as if it has been over sharpened.
I'm with Frank, end results are dependent upon proper preparation and knowing some basic fundamentals. I can do a photo on granite, marble or acrylic that looks as good as anything produced in these expensive canned programs. IMOP as a former user of Photograv, use of these programs is just a way to short cut the process and when you do that, you save time but you lose control of the process.
