    Skateboard carving

A local skateboard shop asked me to contribute a piece of artwork for a show they were having. All the work had to incorporate a skateboard deck. Most people paint on the deck, but I don't paint, so I had to come up with something else.

I added two plywood "wings" to the deck and carved it all up and painted it black. Then I cut out the pieces of mahogany for the octopus and hollowed them on the back, so they would fit the contours of the skateboard. Then I carved the octopus and added the hard maple lightning.

    Something a little different
