Need Advice on choice of material for cutting

    Hi everyone.

I have a customer that wants me to make some folding screens (room dividers) with cut out patterns to allow light to transmit through. She wants to have a vellum like material sandwiched in between 2 layers of material. She would like the outside finish on both sides to be wood veneer.

Since the panels will be laminated I would like to use 1/8 - 3/16" material.

What is the best material to use? Someone suggested MDF. I was thinking Plywood. Is there a difference in plywoods? Also if you have a source, that would be great.

The screens will be 6' tall including the legs so the panels will be about 66" tall.

here is a sample of the design

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

It would be helpful if you posted the design. Also what thickness do you want the panel to be?
